One of my favorite movies was the 3 Musketeers (the 1993 version). The three best of the disbanded Musketeers – Athos, Porthos, and Aramis – join a young hotheaded would-be-Musketeer, D’Artagnan, to stop the Cardinal Richelieu’s evil plot: to form an alliance with enemy England by way of the mysterious Milady. Many of you have seen it…and the famous one for all and all for one antics of this swashbuckling group….
In real life organizations expect an all for one approach to work as well, in fact many expect complete devotion to the mission or goal of the organization…thats no surprise, however what about personal ambitions?
Where do they fit in?
What happens when the group is all-consuming and the individual is crowded out?
Even worse, when you don’t drink the cool -aid and have a different opinion..
No answers today, but stay tuned for further discussion on this…
As you know I firmly believe we are all the CEO’s of our own careers and destiny…and this is a thorny discussion….
